Pelvic Exenteration in Patients with Persistent and Recurrent Cervical Cancer: A Case Series from Belarus

INTRODUCTION: The prognosis of patients with persistent or recurrent cervical cancer (CC) is poor, and patient selection for exenterative surgery challenging. aim this study was to determine the outcomes undergoing pelvic exenteration (PE) CC after treatment radiotherapy in Belarus. METHODS: A retrospective performed 22 who underwent supralevator PE from 2006 2012 at NN Alexandrov National Cancer Centre. Anterior 16 (72.7%) patients, posterior 2 (9.1%) total 4 (18.2%) patients. RESULTS: mean surgical procedure time 289.1 minutes. Urinary diversion 20 patients: 5 (25.0%) ureterostomy 15 (75.0%) neobladder formation. Fecal end colostomy (Hartman’s procedure) one a rectosigmoid resection anastomosis performed. median follow-up 87 months (range, 4.4–146.0 months). To date, have died there were no deaths due other causes. survival 17 5-year rate 31.8% (SE 9.9%). Cox regression analysis showed that margin status lymph node involvement independent risk factors survival. CONCLUSIONS: found be safe feasible option do not potentially curative options.
